The currency in Colombia is the Colombian Peso (COP). If you have an iPhone, we encourage you use the Calculator App and toggle on the convert option where you'll be able to see what the exchange rate is directly from USD to COP. Another reliable way to see the exchange rate is through the google converter calculator.
If you’re looking to exchange your USD for COP, your local bank should have the ability to do so—keep in mind there may be processing times for the bank to acquire the funds.
If you're looking for an international debit card that is reliable and allows you to transfer funds from one bank account to another, we recommend Wise.
There are plenty of businesses that allow you to pay with credit cards but we always recommend having pesos readily available for services and tip. You will likely always avoid VAT and get the best prices if you pay with local currency.
Lastly, research what your credit card charges for transactions fees prior to traveling.

Pereira is located in the heart of the Colombian tropics, which gives it a warm and humid climate throughout the year. Temperatures typically range between 64°F (18°C) and 83°F (28°C), offering pleasant days and cool nights. However, as a tropical city, it is common to experience sudden, brief rain showers at any time of day. These rains usually don’t last long, but it’s important to be prepared—especially for outdoor activities.
